The Arbor Vitae Society is dedicated to the continued growth of Mease Countryside and Mease Dunedin hospitals. “Arbor Vitae” is Latin for “tree of life,” and the organization’s roots represent the years of dedication to making preeminent health care available to all residents in northern Pinellas County.
More than 80 years ago, during a time when money was tight, the Dunedin community came together to give its time, talent and treasure to help Dr. Jack Mease build the hospital that is now Mease Dunedin. Today, Mease Dunedin Hospital is a 143-bed facility providing quality medical and surgical care in neurosurgery, orthopedics, oncology, stroke, imaging, emergency medicine, and intensive care.
For more than 30 years, Mease Countryside Hospital has been raising the standard of care for patients of all ages. Today, the 300-bed facility is nationally recognized as one of the “100 Top US Hospitals,” for featuring multiple Centers of Excellence, including services for women, children, heart health, cancer treatment, neurosciences, and orthopedics.
Recognizing the vital link between these hospitals and the residents they serve, the Arbor Vitae Society was created to increase awareness of community health care and to inspire support of the Foundation by providing educational opportunities and active roles in philanthropy.
