Holly H. Duncan, CFRE
President & CEO
Holly DuncanHolly H. Duncan is the President and CEO of the Morton Plant Mease Foundation, an $100 million institution providing private support for the community-focused, Morton Plant Mease Health Care, Inc., an integrated healthcare delivery system including four hospitals in the Greater Clearwater area of Florida. With over 20 years of professional fundraising experience, Ms. Duncan was formerly Vice President for Development at the Florida Aquarium and at Ruth Eckerd Hall, the performing arts center. She has also been the senior development officer at Lowry Park Zoo and the Florida Orchestra, and Director of Major Gifts at Eckerd College.

Ms. Duncan is a graduate of Leadership Pinellas and Leadership Tampa Bay. As a member of Leadership America, she is part of an accomplished group of executive women from around the nation who are working together to increase their impact individually and collectively. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Pinellas and is a former Chairman of the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Duncan is a Past-President of the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin and remains on the founding Board of the Junior League's Foundation. She served on the Association of the Junior League's Diversity Support Team and the Pinellas County Bi-Racial Advisory Committee. Having been President of the Florida Dance Association and active in lobbying for Major Cultural Institutions and Community Contribution Tax Incentive Program funding, Ms. Duncan has served on Florida Arts Council peer review panels. She has served her college fraternity, Kappa Kappa Gamma, as a member of its Foundation's National Development Committee.

Ms. Duncan is a graduate of Ohio University where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and has a Masters in Political Science from Miami University. Immediately following graduate school, she was with the United States Foreign Service in Bonn and Berlin.

Ms. Duncan was married for 35 years to the late Richard Duncan, Pinellas County Schools Administrator. She has a daughter, Whitney, who teaches in Valdosta, Georgia, and a son, Darby, who is with Bank of America in Tampa.

Marty MatulaMarty Matula, CFP, CFRE
Executive Vice President
Marty Matula is Executive Vice President of Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation in Clearwater, Florida. Ms. Matula has been with the Foundation for 24 years.

Ms. Matula is a native of Minneapolis and studied for her B.A. at the University of Minnesota. She continues to enhance her professional credentials, and in 1993 completed her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification through the Denver College of Financial Planning. In 1997, Ms Matula completed her CFRE Professional Certification Program and was granted the designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Ms. Matula spent eight years as a member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty and two years as Dean of the Planned Giving curriculum of the Institute of Healthcare Philanthropy.

Ms. Matula is a current board member of the Florida Baptist Financial Services Board. She is a former board member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) Board of Accreditation and Planned Giving Today Editorial Advisory Board. She is also a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Pinellas County Estate Planning Council, American Council on Gift Annuities, The Institute of Certified Financial Planners, International Association for Financial Planning, Clearwater Rotary, and Tampa Bay Leadership 1997.

Kathleen SimonKathleen Simon
Vice President
Kathleen Simon is Vice President of Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation. Ms. Simon began her fundraising career in 1985 as a development associate at Ruth Eckerd Hall, a performing arts center in Clearwater. In 1990, she accepted a position at Morton Plant Foundation as a Director for $1,000+ annual donors and was also in charge of annual fundraising events and donor communication for $1,000+ donors. In 1992, Ms. Simon accepted a position as Executive Director for The Center Foundation, the fundraising arm for The Long Center. There she created the Board of Directors, donor recognition, Board education, set up the committee structure and raised funds to support The Long Center. In July 1994, Ms. Simon returned to Morton Plant Foundation as Vice President for Development. In 2000, she was named Vice President/Major Gifts focusing on donors whose gifts make significant annual impact on the fundraising goal.

Ms. Simon is a member of the Ethics Committee of Morton Plant Mease Health Care. She also serves on the Board for PROJECT Grace, an end of life advance directives not for profit organization. Ms. Simon is a graduate of Leadership Tampa Bay as well as Leadership Pinellas where she was 1999 Selection Committee Chair. Ms. Simon graduated from the University of Missouri - St. Louis with a Bachelors of Art in English Literature. Her daughter and son-in law, Stephanie and Andrew Blackford, reside in Denver, Colorado. Daughter Rebecca is with IBM Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia.

Amanda FisherAmanda Fisher
Director of Development

Amanda Fisher is Director of Development for Morton Plant Mease Foundation. She has a BA degree in communications from the University of Toledo and currently serves the community in a variety of roles, such as Secretary of the Board for Leadership Pinellas, member of the Advisory Board for the Dunedin Fine Arts Center, program chair for the Rotary Club of Clearwater, member of the board of directors for the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce and as Diversity Chair and board member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She received her Certified Fund Raising Executive designation in 2005.

Patty Sutton
Director of Annual Giving

Patty Sutton is the Director of Foundation Relations for Morton Plant Mease Foundation. She began her career with the foundation in 2002 as an annual giving associate and special events coordinator. In addition, during her tenure she has led the Corporate Associates Committee, the Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Capital Campaign and the Donald Roebling and Arbor Vitae Committees. Patty holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management. She is a graduate of Leadership Pasco, a member of the Association for Health Care Philanthropy, and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

ErnestineErnestine Bean
Vice President of Development
Ernestine Bean, Vice President of Development, received her B.A in Business Management from Eckerd College. Ernestine first became involved with Morton Plant Mease Foundation as a volunteer on the Caring Times Committee in 2000. She joined the Foundation the following year as the Special Events Coordinator. Since then, her role at the Foundation has included Director of Corporate Giving, Director of Major Gifts, and currently the V.P. of Development. As V.P. of Development, Ernestine’s primary role includes directing the Women in Philanthropy program as well as the $10 million 2nd Century Cancer and the $25 million Doyle Women’s and Children’s Health Initiative capital campaigns.

Community Service has been a passion for Ernestine for over 20 years. She is currently the President of the Junior League of Clearwater/Dunedin Foundation, a Past-Sustainer President of the Junior League of Clearwater/Dunedin, a member of the Children’s Home Society- Silver Coffee Committee, and on the Board of Victory Trot.

She is a member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and from 2002-2006 has served as a member of the Conference Advisory Council where she has been Track Dean of Annual Giving and Major Gifts.

Larry F. Harmon, CPA
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Larry Harmon started as an accountant with the City of Los Angeles in 1962 after graduating from High School. Mr. Harmon served in the Army in 1963 and 1964. He moved to Florida in January 1968 and worked for an Enrolled Federal Tax Accountant and Hertz before enrolling at USF to pursue a degree in accounting. Mr. Harmon graduated from USF in 1980 and went to work for Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, CPAs. He passed his CPA exam in April, 1982 and left Cherry, Bekaert & Holland in 1983 to work in industry. Mr. Harmon spent 13 years in manufacturing & service companies until joining the Foundation in September, 1996.
