MPM Foundation honors Dr. Michael D. Williamson
Morton Plant Hospital Honorary Physician
On March 14, Michael D. Williamson, M.D. was honored at a reception at the Belleair Country Club as the 2013 recipient of the Morton Plant Hospital Honorary Physician Award. An eminent cardiologist, Dr. Williamson came to Clearwater from Rochester, Minnesota to join Dr. Donald Eubanks at Clearwater Cardiovascular Consultants. Under Dr. Williamson’s leadership, the practice grew from two physicians to 19 physicians with specialization in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.
Board certified in interventional cardiology, Dr. Williamson served as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Morton Plant Hospital from 1998 to 2009, and established the outpatient cardiac catheterization lab in the Cheek-Powell Heart and Vascular Pavilion. Dr. Williamson led CCIC and his peers in the field of cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiac procedures. Dr. Williamson serves on the Board of Trustees of BayCare Health System, and is a past member of the Board of Trustees at Morton Plant Hospital. He is also an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
